I write this here because I have to put it down somewhere, if you are not interested carry on and have a great day. If you are interested, feel free to read and comment, but ALWAYS keeping the civism.
Yesterday was a very sad day for me, as well as for most of my homeland. The staring contenst between the government and the independentist finally ended, resulting in a massive shitshow that will be probably brought up by someone to gain something from us. Not only have we been strongly critizized, but we have taken things way out of proportion. In all this there are three groups that are guilty.
First, the current spanish government handled this whole debacle in the poorest way there was ever conceived. Unnecesary show of force in most cases that only aided the actual deliquents and has given them the excuse to sell themselves as victims. Bravo Rajoy, bravo.
Second, the catalan independentist government has become probably the most vile and hated thing to have spawned in Spain in recent history. Not only did they broke every possible law, but also set up the whole chain of events that only benefited the politicians, regardless of what the citizens wanted. It wasn´t bad enough that you gave the government no room for manouver, that you broke both law codes (the national one and the autonomic one) in every way imaginable, but you expose yoruselves to the world as victims when you are no better than the ones you point your finger at. Not only did you sabotage the ref. from the very beggining (plenty of evidence for that), you didn't even bother to play fair. Before accusing someone of being a fascist take a look into the mirror.
The third group is none other than the press. Not only is incredibly biased, rooting completely for one side or the other (and this extend to an international area), but using photos and pictures from past fights and injuries to try and add victimism to the offending secesionists? That's low, that's real fucking low. I can understand rooting for someone, but taking pictures out of contest and blatantly using them to diffamate the spanish government? I would say I'm dissapointed, but that would be partly lying. Congrats on hitting a new low in credibility.
Now I'm watching how my country is getting scolded for taking the right thing out of proportion by a big shot while the culprits laugh at us while they put their money safe somewhere else, money that all of us put. It's more than likely that they will get away with this and that Spain as a whole will have to take the blame. Should this have happened in the US, they would be on court and on thier way to prison for high treason; should have this hapened in Russia they would have "vanished" without a trace. But since Spain is different we will take the blame while they get away with it and make the phrase "the two Spains" run even deeper through the country.
I'm willing to forgive, forgive everything that happened yesterday. Forgive how an autonomy tried to run over all of us only to fail miserably, forgive how the spanish police forces defended the law though an abussive show of force, forgive how everyone and everything tries to divide us time and again. It may sound corny as hell, but the spanish are at our strongest when we are united, when we all have crystal clear what has to be done. I sincerely hope this happens and we bring the culprits on both sides to justice, to show the world that Spain is not a lost cause and that we have since changed our ways and that we are worthy of our national motto.
We are far better than this god fucking damn it. Plus Ultra!
So... yeah. We live through fun times, unfortunately.
